In the {{pkmn|anime}}, Dendemille Town was first mentioned in ''[[XY075|Rivals: Today and Tomorrow!]]'', in which [[Monsieur Pierre]] announced that a [[Pokémon Showcase]] Rookie Class would be held there. After learning that, {{an|Serena}} decided to register for the competition, and she told {{Ash}} that they could head to Dendemille and from there go to [[Anistar City]], where Ash could challenge [[Anistar Gym|its Pokémon Gym]].

During the Theme Performance, which consisted of baking [[Poké Puff]]s, they all received favorable votes from the judging panel—composed by [[Pokémon Connoisseur]] [[Santo]], Poké Puff maker [[Gena]], and Showcase expert [[Delilah]]—thus advancing to the Freestyle Performance. There, Serena used her {{TP|Serena|Braixen}} and {{TP|Serena|Pancham}}, Jessie used {{MTR}} and her {{TP|Jessie|Wobbuffet}}, and Miette used her {{p|Slurpuff}} and {{p|Meowstic}}. The performance delivered by Serena and her Pokémon received the most votes from the audience. As a result, Serena earned her first {{DL|Pokémon Showcase|Princess Key}}.
