Rishin Town appears to be a large city with tall buildings and strip malls, though Max remarks they are all polluted. There is also an old, abandoned mansion called the Green Lodge, which is believed to be haunted, but it is later revealed to merely be the home of a group of Shroomish. Ash adds that the town has a Pokémon Center, though it wasn't seen.

As Brock stocked up on medicinal supplies while May accompanied him to do some window shopping, Ash and Max stumbled upon a Shroomish in an alleyway near a burger place they were eating at. Alex recalled playing with Shroomish as a child alongside his grandfather, who was also the Green Lodge's owner. After a while, however, the once-forested area, which only had a few homes at the time, developed into its current urban state, with the new development displacing the forest Pokémon. With its courtyard overgrown, Alex was in the midst of clearing the mansion's site for more development, but he eventually decided that the mansion will have to be demolished. However, in its place, he planned to revert the area back to its old forested state so it could house the Shroomish.
