Mr. Fuji first appearsappeared in ''[[PS013|Sigh for Psyduck]]'', when he meetsmet {{adv|Red}} in [[Lavender Town]], on his way to pay his respects to his {{p|Doduo}}'s grave. Mr. Fuji invitesinvited Red to his house and tellstold him about the [[Pokémon Tower]] and the {{OBP|ghost|literal}}s in there. Because of them, he cannotwas unable to bury his {{OBP|Pokémon|species}} in a proper place. Red seesthen saw a photo of {{adv|Blue}} with Mr. Fuji, who tellstold him that the ladhad wentgone to the Pokémon Tower to defy the presence of any ghosts two weeks earlier, which makesmade Red willing to go there as well. Once Blue defeatsdefeated [[Koga#In the Pokémon Adventures manga|Koga]] and the truth about the ghosts iswas revealed to the citizens of [[Lavender Town]], Mr. Fuji cancould finally take his deceased Pokémon to rest at the Pokémon Tower.
 
Mr. Fuji has made a couple of cameo appearances in later chaptersrounds. In ''[[PS179|The Last Battle XIII]]'', he iswas one of the [[Pokémon Fan Club]] members thatwho sent Pokémon to help defeat {{padv|Tower duo|Lugia}} and {{p|Ho-Oh}} in [[Ilex Forest]]. In ''[[PS295|Double Down Deoxys]]'', thehe was seen in a [[#Fame Checker|photo]] of Mr. Fuji andin [[Blaine]]'s photo album, standing shoulder to shoulder iswith seenhim in ana albumjungle.
