The katakana for the older man, シニア, directly translates as "senior", but the hiragana for the other two, せんぱい, ''senpai'', is a term that denotes seniority and someone of experience. As these are older versions of the avatars, this is a play on the ''senpai-kōhai'' relationship prevalent in Japanese schools.
