During their visit the village is attacked by an old member of the Ninja Village, [[Kagetomo]]. Kagetomo wanted the title of village chief and captured {{kal|Hanzo}} in order to use him as a hostage so that he could force the residents of the Ninja village to obey him as the new chief, instead of Ippei. During the fight [[Ash's Frogadier]] evolves into a {{p|Greninja}} and activates its special ability to turn into [[Ash-Greninja]]. Kagetomo is eventually defeated and decides to leave the Ninja Village in order to train harder, and focus his attention on exploring the true meaning of a ninja's life.
