Larvesta (Pokémon): Difference between revisions

Larvesta is based on a {{wp|moth}}, puppy and the famed Japanese monument, the {{wp|Tower of the Sun}}. Larvesta appears to be based on an {{wp|Attacus atlas|Atlas moth}} larva. The way its red growths are shaped and positioned on its circular body may be a reference to the sun, or to the ''Daimonji''. It may also be based on a {{wp|torch}}.

Larvesta is a combination of ''{{wp|larva}}'' and ''{{wp|Vesta (mythology)|Vesta}}'' (Roman goddess of the hearth and home, symbolised and represented by an eternally-burning fire located in her {{wp|Temple of Vesta|temple}}). It may also involve ''{{wp|lava}}''or larvae (the active immature form of an insect, especially one that differs greatly from the adult and forms the stage between egg and pupa, e.g. a caterpillar or grub.).
