I'm trying to get a Castform at 10%...What triggers, for example, Rain or Hail in Haina Desert, or Hail and/or a Sandstorm on Exeggutor island? Or what triggers random weather in the overworld in general? Like, when will it hail on Mt. Lanalika or rain in the Lush Jungle? This requires an extensive level of spading, as well as other generations' equivalent weather phenomena triggers..anyone up for it?--BlisseyandtheAquaJets (talk) 23:19, 9 January 2017 (UTC)

:The "trigger" either is time, or it is you. For SOS Battles, in-battle weather is relevant, so having Drizzle or the like will do the job. Or else, you could wait for natural weather to occur in the overworld, which will of course carry over to battles (see the location pages for when there's what weather, or our weather pages, for example Sandstorm (weather condition)#On the field). (I think there's some research left for exact times in some locations, but if you want hail in Haina Desert, I guess you'll have to take care for it yourself.) == New Info from Gen VII - We have work to do! ==
As you may know, Sun and Moon's battle menu features an extensive amount of information on the status of the battle, including health, stat modifications, and other ongoing effects, including—you guessed it—weather conditions. The thing is, these games give us official names and descriptions for every weather condition that is featured in them, and some of the names are quite different from the names we've been using. Here they are:
What Bulbapedia calls "Harsh sunlight", Sun and Moon call "Sunny":
style="color:yellow" width="300px" | Sunny
style="color:white" | The sunny weather condition.
It boosts the power of Fire-type moves and
lowers the power of Water-type moves.
What Bulbapedia calls "Extremely harsh sunlight", Sun and Moon call "Harsh Sunlight":
style="color:yellow" width="300px" | Harsh Sunlight
style="color:white" | The extremely harsh sunlight weather condition.
It boosts the power of Fire-type moves and
protects Pokémon from Water-type moves.
What Bulbapedia calls "Rain", Sun and Moon call "Rain":
style="color:yellow" width="300px" | Rain
style="color:white" | The rain weather condition.
It boosts the power of Water-type moves and
lowers the power of Fire-type moves.
What Bulbapedia calls "Heavy rain", Sun and Moon call "Heavy Rain":
style="color:yellow" width="300px" | Heavy Rain
style="color:white" | The heavy rain weather condition.
It boosts the power of Water-type moves and
protects Pokémon from Fire-type moves.
What Bulbapedia calls "Sandstorm", Sun and Moon call "Sandstorm":
style="color:yellow" width="300px" | Sandstorm
style="color:white" | The sandstorm weather condition.
It damages all Pokémon that are not Rock,
Ground, or Steel type every turn.
It boosts the Sp. Def of Rock-type
Pokémon.
What Bulbapedia calls "Hail", Sun and Moon call "Hail":
style="color:yellow" width="300px" | Hail
style="color:white" | The hail weather condition.
It damages all Pokémon that are not Ice type
every turn.
What Bulbapedia calls "Mysterious air current", Sun and Moon call "Strong Winds":
style="color:yellow" width="300px" | Strong Winds
style="color:white" | The strong winds condition.
The power of supereffective moves against
Flying-type Pokémon will be weakened.
I believe the current names we have for these conditions have stemmed from how they are described in battle text, rather than official designation. Either way, since these are from the most recent core series games, I'd say it's high time to work on implementing this new information on Bulbapedia. This would include moving and rewriting articles, and possibly editing templates. I wrote this entry not only to dump the info for easier reference, but also to run it past you guys and raise awareness about the necessity of this implementation. Does this work for everyone?
