Clemont joins the others but is unable to get back all of the data for Clembot back when a challenger called [[Alvin]] arrives to challenge the gym. Alvin is excited on seeing Ash having watched the [[Lumiose Conference]]. Clemont introduces himself as the gym leader but Alvin wonders where Clembot is. Clemont explains what happened as Alvin explains he had previously challenged the gym but was defeated and has been training hard since them so he can battle Clembot again. Clemont explains that Clembot won't have any memory from before but Alvin still wants to battle. With the battlefield not ready, Clemont asks Alvin to come back the next day to battle which Alvin agrees. Mairin is surprised to see them and she explains that with Alain coming home, she thought she would throw a party. Clemont smells something burning. In the kitchen, Mairin moans about the burnt food as the others offer to help prepare for a party. Professor Sycamore drives Alain back but he appears more distant. As the others prepare for Alain's return, Bonnie can't help but wonder how [[Squishy]] is doing but Ash assures her Squishy is doing fine.
