I haven't seen it mentioned anywhere, but I think it's entirely possible that Spinda was at least in part inspired by the mascot of the Sakusaku Panda chocolate biscuits in Japan. It has been around for 20 years, so before Spinda was intoduced in the games, and I mean, just look at it, it has a very similar body shape, facial expression, and even their eyes are similar. http://www.fanboy.com/archive-images/sakusaku-panda.jpg | |||
Not to mention you can find many kinds of panda faces in a package, which are pretty much random, so even the fact that there are many kinds of Spinda might be a reference to this. | |||
