* As a Fletchling, Talonflame is the only Pokémon Ash caught in the Kalos region in an official battle; all of his other Kalos Pokémon joined him without a fight.

**Although, in the case of Ash's Hawlucha, Ash challenged it to a battle, with the condition that if he, Ash, won, Hawlucha would join his team. The battle that followed ended in a draw. Even though Hawlucha didn't exactly win, but didn't quite lose either, he freely chose to go with Ash.
