They could only watch helplessly as [[Oakley]] used the DMA and Latios suffered the consequences. Ash, Latias, and Pikachu came to save them and stopped the DMA. Lorenzo warned Annie not to touch the corrupted Soul Dew, but it was too late for her to hear his warning. Annie touching the corrupted Soul Dew caused the DMA to go out of control, to ruinous effects. Lorenzo was present at Latios's sacrifice and was the first to realize that he had died. He later bid farewell to Ash, Misty and Brock as they left the city.
