There needs to be done some research on this, as I have problems on replicating it. As far as I remember, the Shadow Pokemon was snagged as soon as it appeared, while Evice switched out his other Pokemon because it was about to fall asleep because of Yawn. This tactic did not work later in Snagem Hideout on Rosso's Quilava; although it took me few turns to set it up as the Grumpig refused to cooperate by using Bounce (both appeared on first turn of battle).
