+It was the first Pokémon Winona sent out during the Gym battle with {{Ash}}, pitting it with [[Ash's Grovyle]]. Altaria's {{m|Peck}} clashed with Grovyle's {{m|Bullet Seed}}. Altaria tried Peck again but Grovyle avoided the hit by jumping on a totem pole in the battle field and did a backflip. Altaria attacked with {{m|DragonBreath}} next which successfully hit. When Altaria attempted to use DragonBreath again, Grovyle dodged and attacked with Bullet Seed which did very little to Altaria. Altaria used DragonBreath the third time but Grovyle leaped in the air and attacked with {{m|Leaf Blade}} from above. This caused Altaria to lose despite having a type-advantage.
