Somewhere on Southern Island, he and Latias hear the melody of the Eon Flute, the former thinking that it's Emerald however he sees that its someone else. After {{adv|Ruby}} had finished tickling Latias, Latios tells her to not let her guard down. She reminds him that he's one of Emerald's friends that helped him during the Battle Frontier with them. He accepts to trust him, and asks why he came there. Though he quickly tells him not to, as he guesses that something unsual is happening around [[Hoenn]] again, which Ruby nods to him. He decides to lend Ruby their help. Ruby informs him that he has to go to first, which Latios tells him to get on him. He flies up the telling Latias to wait on the island. While flying he asks if Ruby has his Keystone, which he also informs him that they have acquired their respective Mega Stones. Ruby then prepares his Mega Bracelet. Latios instructs him how to Mega Evolve, which they successfully do. Latios then informs him to hold on tight as he does an Aileron roll Dash. He asks him to open his eyes as they are high enough to survey the entire region, telling him that soaring is a method of flying, usable only with his mega form. He then shows him the top of the Sky Pillar, they then land near the entrance going back to his normal form. They go inside, as Ruby wonders if he'l be able to climb, Latios supports him, noting that he has a mega bracelet and was able mega evolve him. Although he's only worried about the dirt around the place, which makes him fall backwards.
