Emerald hitched a ride on Salamence at one point when he wanted to have access to the Battle Frontier. It first was used in battle against {{adv|Sapphire}}'s [[Rono]] with the results of its specific battle unseen. When Emerald was about to challenge Tucker, Sapphire mentions that Salamence will go up first according to the sequence of his Pokémon, having lost to it in the semi-finals against Tucker. However, this wasn't the case as {{p|Charizard}} went up instead.
