Poison (type): Difference between revisions

When used defensively, the Poison type is considered one of the best in the game. This is because of its ability to block or cause [[status condition]]s and resist common moves. Its obvious weakness, {{m|Earthquake}}, can be mitigated by the variety of dual-type {{t|Grass}} and {{t|Bug}}/Poison Pokémon, as well as the {{p|Zubat}} family's {{t|Flying}} type and the {{p|Gastly}} and {{p|Koffing}} families' {{a|Levitate}}. Additionally, the Poison type resists itself, {{t|Bug}}, {{t|Fighting}}, {{t|Grass}}, and {{t|Fairy}}, giving it resistances to common moves such as {{m|X-Scissor}}, {{M|Close Combat}} and {{m|Grass Knot}}. Moreover, Poison types tend to hold potent status and support moves, such as {{m|Toxic Spikes}}, and {{m|Toxic}}. Immune to {{status|Poison}} and {{m|Toxic Spikes}} themselves, they have an opportunity to absorb status effects as well. [[Koga]]'s words of "confusion, sleep, poison" describe the Poison type quite well.
