This card will be released as one of the {{TCG|XY Black Star Promos}} available in the {{merch|XY|Flashfire Blisters}} to be released May 7, 2014. In Japan, it was released as one of the {{TCG|XY-P Promotional cards}} and was one of four possible promotional cards given to customers who purchased ¥1000 worth of Pokémon Card Game products at participating stores as part of the ''Corocoro Presents: XY Super Hot Start-Up Campaign'', which launched on December 13, 2013 in celebration of the release of {{TCG|Collection X}} • {{TCG|Collection Y}}. This card features the campaign logo in the bottom right corner of the artwork.

A second print at this promotional number was released in Japanese with the logo for the ''Charizard Mega Battle Commemoration Campaign'', which launched on January 31, 2014 in celebration of the release of the {{TCG|Xerneas Half Deck|Xerneas}} and {{TCG|Yveltal Half Deck}}s, and ultimately the start of the Charizard Mega Battle.
