Although ambitious and well intentioned, as an Editorial Board member and a user for going on 6 and 1/2 years now I can say with certainty that your Featured Article Nomination Committee idea will most likely not happen. We simply don't have the manpower to run such a committee. We used to do featured articles with a system that for the most part worked, which was user nominations, followed by public votes on the nominations and staff approval to finish it off. General interest in the whole FA process progressively dwindled: as a collective, we stress improving our worst pages over boasting our best.
