:I also noticed this, and tried discussing it on the talk page, but... well, it was removed due to the ultimately speculative nature of the issue. I have to point out, though, that the similarities go further than the dress: The outline of the braid that wraps around Diantha's head traces the same shape as the second row of cuts in the gemstone on Diancie's forehead. Additionally, they reuse what appear to be the same shades of gold, pink (on Diantha's handbag) and gray (Diantha's eyes). I feel this is more than enough to conclude that this is an intentional design reference. ::Almost forgot -- her Japanese name may not be as similar, but Carnet does have a striking similarity to the word garnet, another gemstone. She does have the two rock-types on her team already.
