If the glitch is used with a game attached to Pokémon Stadium 2, there is a chance of getting strange glitch Pokémon. If the player withdraws a Pokémon and continues the cloning glitch, if the game is turned off at the right time, the cloned Pokémon will vanish and be replaced by a Pokémon with the same name, attack, and level as the Pokémon removed. Its sprite will be identical to the cloned Pokémon, but if sent into battle, it will appear as the withdrawn Pokémon. Its species name will be the same as the cloned Pokémon's and it will be able to learn all the TMs/HMs as the cloned Pokémon. However, it will evolve as the withdrawn Pokémon does.

Obtaining all three starter Pokémon
This glitch may be used at the beginning of a game to obtain all three starter Pokémon.

By exploiting this glitch carefully it is possible to obtain all three starter Pokémon.
* The player must start a new game.
* They should play until they are about to obtain their starter.
* Once they are there, they should save the game outside the lab. From this point the player must not save.
* They should pick their starter and play until they can obtain Poké Balls. The player can optionally give their starter a Poké Ball to hold, as this will save time later.
* Then they should catch a random wild Pokémon.
* They should deposit their starter in the Pokémon Storage System.
* The player should change boxes and reset the game while it saves.
* The player will be outside Elm's lab. They should pick a different starter.
* If they attached a Poké Ball to their first starter they only have play up to Cherrygrove City, where they can withdraw their other starter. They can remove the attached Poké Ball and use it to catch a wild Pokémon. The player still cannot save and if the Poké Ball fails they must play until they can obtain them again.
* Once the random wild Pokémon is caught, the player must deposit the two starters in the PC, change boxes and reset the game while it saves.
* The player will be outside Elm's lab for the final time. From this point the player can save again. They must choose the starter they haven't picked yet.
* In the PC the other two starters can be removed and the player will have all three.
