(→‎Using "typing" in reference to Pokemon's assigned types: We shouldn't be debating when the point is for Maverick Nate, not us, to make a decision. This is my last post on the matter until he replies.)

::Is this usage of "typing" understandable? Entirely, I say; even well enough so for a newbie, I think. How do you justify that meaning? Hell if I know, but it patently works just fine for many people. Language evolves. Tiddlywinks (talk) 09:07, 20 January 2014 (UTC)

:::I did not argue with its understandability; that's not the point. Yes, language evolves, and it's important for it to do so. It's just that formal writing is not the place for it to do so. Formal writing has rules that casual language doesn't. We can't just throw anything "understandable" on the wiki, or we'll be filled with lols, wtfs, rofls and the rest. ::::I'm going to say that although "typing" as a word can be used, it often has a better equivalent. This page has extensive details on what should and should be used, mostly in sections 1 and 2 for types. If that page doesn't answer your question exactly, I request that you bring this situation up with SnorlaxMonster, as he has done a lot more research into the matter than I have.
::::Additionally, I'd like to be able to be the first one who responds to messages posted on my talk page. MaverickNate 00:32, 21 January 2014 (UTC)
