The Poké Radar makes a return in Pokémon X and Y, functioning much the same as in Diamond, Pearl, and Platinum. It is received by the player once he or she has defeated the Elite Four, by talking to the scientist on the top right of the second floor of Professor Sycamore's Lab. It can not be used in the [[Friend Safari]] or while using the {{DL|Transportation in the Pokémon world|Roller skates}}.

A new type of chaining is introduced called 'Chain Fishing', which has the same concept as chaining with the Poké Radar but instead the player has to get consecutive bites on the fishing rod in the same spot.
A new type of chaining is introduced called 'Chain Fishing', which has the same concept as chaining with the Poké Radar but instead the player has to get consecutive bites on the fishing rod in the same spot. Having a Pokémon with [[Suction Cups]] leading the party can help get consecutive bites. The player may be able to run without breaking the chain. The player does not have to find a specific Pokémon species to continue the chain.
