::::Any chance that it could be, in part, based on a computer mouse? It can plug its tail in, and it's an electric rodent. It seems fairly likely in my mind. Also, the fact that its tail, acts like a wire, and its artwork, in my opinion, makes it look like it's about to chew its own tail, could reference the fact that hamsters, gerbils, and other rodents are notorious for chewing through wires and cables.
