This card was released in Japan as part of the Pokémon Center Birthday Campaign, which first started on November 4th, 2010. People whose visit to participating Pokémon Centers coincided with the day of their birthday, or on one of seven days either side of their birthday, were eligible to receive the Birthday Campaign gifts. These gifts included a [[List of local Japanese event Pokémon distributions in Generation V#2010 Birthday Audino|special Audino]] for use with copies of {{game|Black}} or {{game|White}}, one copy of this card, a Pokémon Center coupon for either a ¥800 discount off Pokémon Black or Pokémon White, or 10% discount off anything in store, and a special Birthday Ribbon sticker. Visitors had to provide evidence of their birthday with official documents, such as a birth certificate, insurance card, license, or passport.<br>

The same card was available for the 2011 campaign, which ran from {{tt|November 4th|December 4th in Tohoku}}, 2011 to {{tt|November 3rd|December 3rd in Tohoku}}, 2012. {{game|Black 2}} and {{game|White 2}} were also added to the eligible games for both the Audino download and coupon offer. A new card was made available for the start of the 2012 campaign, with different artwork by [[Naoki Saito]]. This campaign began on {{tt|November 4th|December 4th in Tohoku}}, 2012.
