==Hopes for Gen VI==
===New Game Mechanics===
'''Fly:''' As many of you know, Fly has remained the same outside of battle. You pick a spot and go, just like in all the Pokémon games and LOZ: A Link to the Past. I think in Gen VI it will be more like Surf or riding a bike, allowing people to fly and control the Pokémon midair. Imagine being able to soar over trees and other elements of the scenery. Imagine finding clearings in trees and being able to land in them and find items and rare Pokémon. So here's hoping that Fly will have a new interface that doesn't require selecting a previously visited spot. Naturally there would have to be some kind of block or obstacle to prevent a player from going too far, maybe wind gusts or currents? I know I would love to be able to fly over tall grass to avoid it, maybe have a meter that drains and forces you to let the Pokémon rest.
===Ruby and Sapphire or Emerald Remakes===
Now for my thoughts on a possible remake of Pokémon Ruby and Sapphire...or an Emerald remake.
It use to be that everyone talked down to those who were hopeful of a remake of the Gen III BA games, but with X and Y coming to 3DS, Connectivity to the DS games are questionable.
The old arguments were that due to the Gold and Silver Remakes, HeartGold and SoulSilver; connectivity between the Gen IV and V; as well as the ability to send Gen III Pokémon to the Gen IV games, then again to the Gen V games to complete the dex, remakes of Ruby and Sapphire were unneeded. It is especially brought up that if Game Freak was to remake them, they would have already done so in Gen V and not wait until Gen VI plus both Gen IV and V are on the same system with the remakes, and remakes always happen with a new syst. There are a number of flaws with these argument, but most of the argument originated on the interwebs...and we all know Internet Arguments are 100% fail. But let me explain the flaws anyways.
*You don't get a Pokémon back in return when you send Pokémon from the Gen III games to the Gen IV games, or Pokémon from the Gen IV games to the Gen V games. They're gone for good. Plus, to send Pokémon from a Gen III game to a Gen IV game, you need to have a Original DS or DSLite since the DSi and later dropped the GBA slot.
*Sending Pokémon from a Gen III game to a Gen IV game, and then to the Gen V games is tedious to begin with, adding yet another to the mix makes it just a pain in the butt in all aspects, and that if the Gen VI games are compatible to begin with. That is a lot of work to get a Latios from your RSE games to your new XY games.
*Even trading with people across the globe, there is no certainty you'll get the Pokémon you want with the moves you want. If you just want a Pokémon for the sake of getting a complete dex, that is fine, but if you want to use it in battle with certain moves, or breed it for certain moves...you might have some work ahead of you. More often or not, you might prefer to have more control over the Pokémon development and growth. Lets not forget that the Global Link censorship prevent certain Pokémon from being traded without a nick name, so that's another annoyance. Also, now with Gen VI coming out, they're phasing out Gen V's connectivity to the network...so yeah..there is that.
*Last but not least, as stated remakes always come out on the newest hardware..the 3DS is said new Hardware.
So with Hardware, software and general restrictions all around; there will defiantly be a need for RSE remakes to help complete the dex of the new X and Y Games. If anything, only B2W2 would be compatible to X and Y since they're newer, which means you would have to do some serious chain trading to get the Pokémon you want onto your new X and Y version games.
Now many of you might be thinking; ''"wait, they wouldn't remake all three games, just the original paired games."'' Well I won't argue with you there, but I am not saying they will to begin with. What I am saying is, that its possible they'd just make 1 remake. While its true the Pokémon franchise sticks to patterns, we have learned to expect the unexpected with the release of B2W2.
Everyone was assuming there would be a third version of the Gen V paired games; Pokémon Grey was highly anticipated. However, Gen V proved us wrong and instead came out with a new set of paired games; Black2 and White2. These games expanded on the generation, and were not just a slightly retooled version of the original paired games. Not only was Game Freak breaking the mold with this move, but we got entire new stories and the timeline took a 2 year leap to boot.
So believe me when I say that it would be just as likely for them to just remake one game (i.e. Emerald) then remake both Ruby and Sapphire. I know a lot of people kind of liked Emerald more than the other two, and Pokémon goes where the money is regardless of patterns.
The whole point of remaking previous games, other than giving them a chance at new audiences on better hardware is to help fill in the Pokédex of newer generations due to any and all lost of compatibility.
Despite still being Gen V games, B2W2 are not fully compatible with their prequels, so even on the same system a compatibility issue can arise. Plus, from a logical stand point; while a remake of paired games can generate more money as people want to complete sets or have a choice, spending money on just making one remake that does the job of two is more financially gainful and safe. A Emerald Remake could easily do the same job as any Ruby and Sapphire remakes. Besides, more than likely they would use the Emerald story plot to begin with; similar to how HGSS reused a lot of elements from Pokémon Crystal.
Nintendo and Game Freak does't want to risk losing money, and while they've played it hard and fast in the past; current times makes it more unforgiving for flops. Its better if they remake Emerald and it be a flop than remake both Ruby and Sapphire and they have two flops on their hands.
Oh, and another thing that would be just plain awesome in a RSE remake...Space Exploration. I had almost forgot all about the space shuttle twin gym leaders; a remake of Ruby, Sapphire or Emerald could easily expand into letting the player explore outside of the Pokémon World in outer space!
Think about it, the whole premise of the Gen III is that Team Aqua and Magma are trying to make Earth better, but there is also elements that show and remind us there is a whole cosmos out there; not just the Earth.
Just think about '''Solrock, Lunastone Deoxys, Jurachi''' even '''Rayquaza'''; all Gen III Pokémon that are extraterrestrial in some way. Not to mention all the Gen I and II Pokemon with suspected Alien origins. Even the Regi Golems might be aliens since Registeel is made of a metal "Not of this earth" The entire generation proves "We're not alone" in the Pokémon universe. Gen III was all about extraterrestrial life, and Gens IV & V expanded on that some but also got into Creationism/Intelligent Design.
Imagine being able to explore outside the Pokémon World, and even catch Pokémon in outer space. That would be so cool!!! All you would need to do is hop of the space shuttle and pow, zoom too the moon!
Now if only we can think of awesome names for the remakes. I can already guess there is a high probability of a Sapphire Remake would have something oceanic in its title...I can already think of a semi overused, somewhat corny name for an Emerald Remake. "ChaosEmerald " Yeah I know, ain't my fault Sonic got to it first! Anyways, here some ideas for names.
'''Ruby:''' ''CrimsonRuby; RusticRuby; GlimmeringRuby; ShimmeringRuby; ShinningRuby; SparklingRuby; LustrousRuby; RadiantRuby; CosmicRuby; StarRuby; CelestialRuby.''
'''Sapphire:''' ''SonicSapphire; LiquidSapphire; OceanSapphire; SkySapphire, EternalSapphire; TearSapphire; GlimmeringSapphire; ShimmeringSapphire; ShinningSapphire; SparklingSapphire; LustrousSapphire; RadiantSapphire; CosmicSapphire; StarSapphire; CelestialSapphire.''
'''Emerald:''' ''EternalEmerald; ChaosEmerald; TerrestrialEmerald; CosmicEmerald; StarEmerald; CelestialEmerald; EarthEmerald; SkyEmerald; RoaringEmerald''
'''Ruby and Sapphire pair:''' ''LandRuby and SeaSapphire; SolarRuby and LunarSapphire; SunRuby and MoonSapphire; MarsRuby and NeptuneSapphire; AplhaRuby and OmegaSapphire; RoyalRuby and Elegant; DesertRuby and OasisSapphire; DuskRuby and MorningSapphire; TwilightRuby and MorningSapphire; MorningRuby and TwilightSapphire; MorningRuby and DuskSapphire.''
Wow, its a lot easier thinking up names for the Sapphire remake.

==Observations of Gen VI==
==Observations of Gen VI==
So far, it looks like humanoid Pokémon are the ones to get the MegaEvolutions. Also MegaBlaziken has a X in its design and MegaLucario has a Y in its design. And if you look at Lucario's dreadlocks, they have a resemblance to Yveltal's design
===Anime===

If Iris does not continue on the journey with Ash, I have a feeling he'll likely get a female traveling companion with either a Chestpin or Fennekin.
===Mega Evolution===
So far, it looks like humanoid/bipedal Pokémon are the ones to most likely get Mega Evolutions. Also MegaBlaziken has a X in its design and MegaLucario has a Y in its design. And if you look at Lucario's dreadlocks, they have a resemblance to Yveltal's design. Mewtwo's Mega Evolution also that the Omega Ω symbol in its design.

They might break the old traditions, and let Ash only have the Water Pokemon Frokie if he doesn't catch all 3 starters. But, less his Traveling female traveling companion has a Chestpin, Ash will defiantly have a Frokie, and likely a Chestpin as well.
===Pokémon Bank===

For some reason I don't see him much for Fennekin, and that will likely belong to a female traveling companion like i said.
I don't see anything necessarily bad about Nintendo doing this outside of this now making the possibility of a Pokémon Ruby and Sapphire remake very unlikely.
I also got a feeling that Frokie might evolve into Water/Dragon type with Chestpin or Fennekin being Grass/Fairy or Fire/Fairy respectively. Just as long as Fennekin is not another Fire/Fighting Pokémon I will be happy.

As for the tradition of getting the regional bird, if Ash does get a Fletchling it likely will not evolve for a while and he likely will use Talonflame as his fire type for the journey since I don't see him getting a Fennekin.
Still, you have to give Nintendo credit for remaining free this long, and who knows the account you make to set up the Pokémon Bank might be usable for other services with little or no cost extra. Plus, thank of it this way. Its going be about rough estimate $5 a year. On average, a new Pokémon game comes out every 2.5-3.5 years. By the time the next games are upon us, you'll only have had to pay $15 more or less and are ready to transfer all the Pokémon you caught in Gens V and Vi to Gen VII. We all know 7 is a lucky and awesome number, just ask Sony and Square soft about Final Fantasy VII wink wink.
Hopefully Pikachu receives a Mega Evolution, or Ash gets at least one Pokémon with the ability to Mega Evolve. I somewhat for see him getting either a Torchic or a Lucario on his team.

It would be interesting if He gets a Torchic since May had one, and it would be the first time that he got a starter Pokémon from a past gen that is the same as a female traveling companion's instead of them getting one that he had.
I don't see this as being a one trick pony, and who knows, maybe down the road they'll have a free version of the Pokémon Bank. In the old days there was no such thing as a totally free checking account. Now banks offering this service are a dime a dozen. Sooner or later the service will expand. Who knows, you might be able to use the Pokémon in your bank account to play with in games outside of the handhelds. A Virtual console RPG is likely. Plus, maybe this service will give people with other Pokémon franchise games like Rumble and such new features and perks. I know I and many people are hoping for a Stadium/Collosium type game to hit the Wii U and we all saw the Pokkén Tournament stuff. The bank might allow us to use any of our Pokémon from Gens V and VI in it such games.

May got both a Bulbasaur and Squirtle, and Dawn got a Cyndaquil, all Pokémon Ash had in previous generations. Ash getting a Torchic would be very interesting, especially if somehow it was born from May's Blaziken.
Now the one downside to this is any Pokémon caught in gens III and VI will be harder to get to the newer games. Also, once transferred, can you get a Pokémon back onto BW 1&2? In the past transfers to later games were irreversible starting with features like Pal park and whatnot. Also, is there a certain task that is needed to be done to transfer Pokémon into the bank? Because usually you have to beat the game(s) before you get such features. I'd hate for people to prematurely sign up and pay for the bank, and not be able to use it just yet.

*These are only my hopes, observations and educated guesses on how things will play out based on past trends and traditions within the games and anime.*
My one big fear about this all is what happens to your Pokémon in the event there is a Server crash, a hacking, or your subscription expires. It would be a shame to lose even one Pokémon, so I hope they do regular back ups and provide a guarantee that any Pokémon lost for any reason will be replaced Free of Charge. I know if I get a shinny Charizard, I will be extremely Irate if it were to get lost in some kind of server crash or hacked and taken. Nintendo best provide some kind of safety net, less they crash and burn.
