Following a series of news regarding surprising announcements from both {{n|TPC hints at Jump Festa reveal|Jump Festa 2012}} and the {{n|Japanese distribution to be held to celebrate next year's zodiac|first issue of CoroCoro magazine in 2012}}, the game was revealed on December 17, 2011, at the Jump Festa event itself, with the official site launching soon after.
