When you enter Viridian City, the first building you'll see is the Pokémon Center. This Pokémon hospital will heal your team to full health and normal status, and Trainers are free to use the PC in the corner. In addition to accessing your item storage, these PCs can also access your Pokémon storage. Since you can only carry six with you at once, any others are immediately transferred to storage upon capture.  It is typically a good idea to heal up and save your progress whenever you enter a Pokémon Center.
Viridian City is a small city, and the first one you reach with a Pokémon Gym.  However, the mysterious Gym Leader is out of town, and the Gym has been closed indefinitely.

When you are done at the Pokémon Center, enter the building behind it - the Poké Mart. These stores are where you can buy Poké Balls, Potions, and other items.  When you enter the Mart, the cashier catches you right away, and asks you to deliver List of key items in Generation I to Professor Oak. <br>

You can't go north yet, since the old man won't let you through until he gets his coffee, and you won't be able to buy anything until you deliver it, so walk south to Pallet Town.

The old man that wouldn't let you through earlier has had his coffee nowWhen you first pass him, he tries to show you how to catch a PokémonIt doesn't work, and he runs off to buy more Poké Balls.
2 links Viridian City to Pewter City in the northMuch of the area is occupied by Viridian Forest, a large maze of treesThe east side of the route is inaccessible without 01.

Viridian Gym
{| class="expandable" align="center" style="background: #; roundy; border: 5px solid #;"
The Viridian Gym is closed indefinitely.  The Gym Leader will not return to his post until you have defeated the seven other Gym Leaders and have the seven other badges to prove it.  You won't be back here for a long while, so don't worry about it right now.

Later...
Once you know Cut and Surf, you'll be able to reach the guy in the southwest of the city.  Talk to him to get 50.

When you're done in Viridian, walk north to 2.

You can't cut down the stunted trees yet, so you'll only have access to the western half of the route for now.  Follow the path through the tall grass, and enter the gate.

Once inside the forest, there are a few areas to explore.  To find a free item, follow the trail left and then up.  To the left, hidden in the tall grass, is a Poké Ball.  Return to the forest entrance, but this time follow the path to the right.  The first person you see won't have anything interesting to say, but the next person certainly will - he's your first non-Rival Trainer battle!

After defeating him, continue north along the path, and you'll encounter a second Trainer.  After that battle, follow the left trail beyond the signpost to find a Potion.  Make a left and walk through the tall grass, and you'll find a third Trainer.  Wander back and forth through the northwest part of the forest, and you'll find another Potion on the ground.  Walk past the "Trainer Tips" sign, battle one last Trainer, and exit the gate to the north end of 2.
