The old man outside the Gym tells you, "This Gym didn't have a Leader until recently.  [[Blue (game)|A young man from Pallet]] became the Leader, but he's often away."  [[Giovanni]]'s disappearance {{game|Red and Blue|s|three years ago}} left a vacant Gym Leader position, and [[Blue (game)|Blue]] had just lost his title as Pokémon Champion to [[Red (game)|Red]], so he took the position at Viridian Gym.  He happens to be out of town right now, so you'll have to wait a while to battle him.


Talk to the guy in the southwest field (you'll need {{m|Cut}} or {{m|Surf}} to reach him) to get {{TM|42|Dream Eater}}.

The [[Trainer House]] allows you to battle a certain opponent under controlled conditions.  The default opponent is {{ga|Cal}}, who uses the final forms of the Johto starter Pokémon at level 50.  However, if you have used the [[Mystery Gift]] function before, the opponent will be the last person with whom you interacted, with the same Pokémon, moves, and items.  The number of battles is limited to one per day.

This tiny town is where the {{game|Red and Blue|s|Pokémon games}} first began.  The house on the left is [[Red (game)|Red]]'s, a previous Pokémon League Champion now off [[Mt Silver|somewhere]] training by himself, and the house on the right is [[Blue (game)|Blue]]'s, former Champion and current Gym Leader of [[Viridian City]].


Blue's sister will [[Friendship|groom]] one Pokémon a day if you speak to her (which can help you obtain new Pokémon like {{p|Espeon}} and {{p|Umbreon}}).
