Later it was revealed that Suwama was the original trainer of Ash's Tepig. Suwama wanted to prove that Tepig was useless and challenged Ash to a battle, which took place in the Battle Club. Ash used his Tepig and {{AP|Snivy}}, while Suwama used {{p|Emboar}} and {{p|Heatmor}}. Tepig evolved into {{p|Pignite}} in the battle and defeated both of Suwama's Pokémon.
