Hareta hurls a Poké Ball at the Trainer which bounces off a tree opens in midair to reveal Piplup, but then Piplup crashes into Hareta's head causing both to fall to the ground. Their battle starts with Gardenia's {{p|Cherubi}} using Leech Seed and Hareta's {{p|Shinx}} jumping to dodge. Hareta then tells Shinx to use bite, which causes Cherubi to faint. Gardenia's next Pokémon is her {{p|Turtwig}} which is quickly taken out by Shinx's spark, but not before Turtwig can secretly use Grass Knot on Shinx. Next Gardenia sends out her Roserade which takes out Shinx with one hit. Hareta sends out his Misdreavus and tells it to use Spite. Another Magical Leaf from Roserade defeats Misdreavus. Hareta sends out Piplup and proudly declares that Piplup has a secret attack. He then spoils the secret by saying it is Peck and then tells Piplup to attack with Peck.
