And a lot of the time, back in the first seasons, when they would come across a wild Pokemon, Brock would usually give it Pokemon food to help it get better. But the fact that Cilan directly identified it as having Gluttony supports its eating behavior in that scene as being the use of its ability. Stantler also received medical help from a potion.
