 Back at her home, she explained that because Mary was dozing off, daydreaming about the [[Mareep Festival|local tournament]], she didn't pay attention to all of the Mareep, letting them off free. When Ash was eager to enter the tournament (which he couldn't since he didn't live in the area), Mary wanted to join as well, but Mary's mother refused and said if she couldn't control the Mareep there was no way she could battle in the tournament.
-During the evening, she was seen training her Mareep's {{t|Electric}} attacks. Thus, Ash complimented that she's done a good job raising it. Randomly on her mind, she requested a battle with Ash's Pikachu, and he accepted. As her Mareep and his Pikachu battled, Ash commanded his Pikachu to stop battling because he saw it was geting tired. As her Mareep continued to battle, it collapsed due to using too much energy during the day, as Ash explained.
