It had hopes to evolving into a {{p|Poliwrath}} after seeing {{adv|Red}}'s [[Poli]], but instead evolved into a Politoed right after its evolution into {{p|Poliwhirl}} from being traded with a {{DL|Evolution-inducing held item|King's Rock}}.}}

Sunbo had also been the last one to touch Gold's egg and is the apparent reason for Togebo hatching from it. It sometimes assists Exbo by using its {{m|Sunny Day}} to power up Exbo's {{type|Fire}} attacks, most notably after evolving into Sunflora in the battle against the Masked Man.

The two competitors soon reached an enormous tree that neither of the Trainers' Pokémon could move. Suddenly, a large {{p|Rhydon}} bursts out and Whitney tries to stop it, getting herself carried away by it. The strange tree reacted to [[Polibo]]'s {{m|Water Gun}} attack and shrinks in size. Gold then finds out that Sudowoodo was hiding from Rhydon and they go after it, defeating it and saving Whitney. Afterward, it decides to join Gold's team. It has lately been shown interacting with {{adv|Emerald}}'s Sudowoodo after [[Guile Hideout]] had been defeated.

|desc=In ''[[PS101|Teddiursa's Picnic]]'', Gold was tasked with looking after an egg (which he nicknamed '''Eggy''') that was the offspring of [[Jasmine]]'s two {{p|Togetic}}. [[Professor Elm]] wanted Gold to look after it. Soon after, it hatched into a {{p|Togepi}}, christened '''Togebo''' (Jp: '''トゲたろう''' ''Togetarō''). It is one of Gold's strongest Pokémon because of its violent tendencies, and it picked up a lot of Gold's gambling habits while in its egg, as well (to Elm's displeasure). Togepi was only newborn when it defeated an adult {{p|Tyranitar}} (getting badly squashed in the process).  

In the {{chap|HeartGold & SoulSilver}}, Gold showed he never really believed in Togebo's strength (which is why he never used it in any major battles), and when [[Lance's Dragonite]] was rampaging, Gold only reluctantly sent it out after his other Pokémon were defeated. When Togebo defeated Dragonite (knocking itself out doing so), Lance told Gold he didn't trust in Togebo's strength and that's why it hadn't evolved. When Gold started trusting in its strength, it evolved into a {{p|Togetic}}. It evolved once more, with the {{evostone|Shiny Stone}} in Gold's possession, into a {{p|Togekiss}}.

When supported with the Remoraid, Mantaro can glide across the air, allowing Gold to travel aerially. It debuted in ''[[PS147|Lively Lugia II]]'' and has a Calm nature.
