While it's great that you're trying to help out, if there's a staff member actively talking to a user about rules, could you leave a bit of time for a staff member to respond? Often we type up responses containing a relatively detailed explanation, and it's annoying to be edit conflicted by a regular user who's trying to enforce the rules like an admin simply stating the rule with different wording.
