*Brock does not surrender during the Pewter Gym battle, and does not accompany you thereafter.

*Bulbasaur, Charmander, and Squirtle are acquired for tasks. In the anime, Charmander is rescued from heavy rain, and Squirtle and Bulbasaur merely follow Ash.
