I'm not sure if I'm putting this in the right place, I'm brand new here, but the back sprite for Pidgeot in FireRed and LeafGreen isn't the same as in Ruby, Sapphire, and Emerald. It's feathers on it's head are elongated, as they should be. and by the looks of it, I'd say Pidgeot's long head feathers could perhaps derive from the [http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Nicobar_Pigeon Nicobar Pigeon].
