The '''desert''' (Japanese: '''さばく''' ''desert'') is a location in [[Hoenn]], part of {{rt|111|Hoenn}}. There is a continuous [[Weather conditions#Sandstorm|sandstorm]] in it and so the [[Go-Goggles]] are required to enter. In the games, the player will receive them from their rival after beating [[Flannery]] in the [[Lavaridge Gym]].

The [[Desert Ruins]], the resting place of {{p|Regirock}}, are found at the southernmost point in the desert.

Two fossils, the [[Claw and Root Fossils]], can be found here; in Ruby and Sapphire, they lie in the sand, and one will sink in to be lost forever while the other will be able to be obtained by the player. In Emerald, instead the fossils are in [[Mirage Tower]], and whichever is not chosen there will be able to be found in the [[Desert Underpass]] after the [[Elite Four]] has been defeated.

While the anime has shown a few deserts over the course of the series, the desert in ''[[AG046|Candid Camerupt]]'' is likely based on this particular desert as the [[Winstrate family]], another aspect of Route 111, is found living there.

There is also a {{rt|228|Sinnoh|desert route}} in [[Sinnoh]], similar to {{rt|111|Hoenn}}.

The [[Unova]] region from the upcoming [[Generation V]] games {{game|Black and White|s}} has a massive desert.
