Has anyone considered that its English name may come from Ocean + Shell + Water + Otter? I think that shell is where the "sh" comes from and then it is combined with the similar sound in "ocean". I think the "wott" just comes from water and otter. [[User:NightSky|NightSky]] 18:36, 23 November 2010 (UTC)

Probable, however, I think that Oshawa is a better bet, as in a native american dialect the name means "Crossing place" or "crossing the river", and the city was part of a major fur trade route in the far past. --[[User:Dragoon|Dragoon]] 18:41, 23 November 2010 (UTC)
