::::::::It's definitely an American thing. Anyway, try saying, "But without the crystal, '''the''' poor Zapdos may not make it." Now, that doesn't sound right, from a writer's POV (and you need to be a writer if your recreating a script). If they had worded it, "the poor thing" or "the poor dear," it would make sense, but to say, "the poor Zapdos" implies it is general (as opposed to specific) and isn't referring to a direct subject. But there is one. And it's not hard to imagine Krystal taking a vested interest in all the electric types. The Zapdos also might be a regular fixture around the lake, and she might have taken a shine to it (without capturing it). Like the same relationship Noland feels for his Articuno (which isn't his).
