This card was released as a SM Black Star Promo and was available from various stores holding events to celebrate the release of the Detective Pikachu film. It was given away at GameStop stores on May 10, 2019 in the United States, at EB Games stores in Canada and Australia, at Smyths stores in the United Kingdom and Ireland. In Japan, it was included in the Great Detective Pikachu subset. It was later included in the Detective Pikachu On the Case Figure Collection released August 9, 2019.
