Era 2007-2008

Skittles is a deck archetype in the Pokémon Trading Card Game based around Garchomp and Togekiss, with Ho-Oh thrown in for good measure. It has been widely used in Play! Pokémon due to its effectiveness against most decks in the current format. With many of the Supporter cards for this archetype originating from expansions released before Diamond & Pearl, it became unusable when Ho-Oh, Garchomp, and Togekiss were rotated out with the beginning of the 2008-2009 season.

Cards

  • Garchomp – The deck's main attacker. Its Poké-Body, Rainbow Scale, states that if the Defending Pokémon has a Weakness to any types of Energy attached to Garchomp, Garchomp's attacks do 40 more damage to the Defending Pokémon. If it has many different types of Energy attached to it, Garchomp will almost certainly be hitting the Defending Pokémon for large amounts of damage.
  • Togekiss – Togekiss's Poké-Power, Serene Grace, is a perfect combination with Garchomp. When Togekiss is played from the player's hand to evolve a player's Pokémon, Serene Grace allows the player to look at the top 10 cards of their deck and attach as many basic Energy cards as they like to any of their Pokémon in play. If a player finds many different types of Energy there and attaches them to Garchomp, Garchomp will have a high chance of putting Rainbow Scale into effect.
  • Ho-Oh – In the deck as a backup card in case the player cannot get a Garchomp in play quickly enough. Its Rainbow Wing attack can do massive damage if Ho-Oh has lots of types of basic Energy attached to it, which is once again possible with Togekiss's Poké-Power.

Typical deck list

The deck list appearing below is not official; it is meant to represent an average build of the archetype, not specifically constructed for any regional metagame. Being that this is merely an archetype, a player may wish to change any part of this deck when building his or her own version.
