Trivia

Although it never saw competitive play during its lifespan in the Standard format, this card was temporarily banned from all official Pokémon events in the Expanded format on September 1st, 2015. This is due to Forest of Giant Plants making it possible to use its Ability, Giant Fan, multiple times in one turn, potentially clearing the opponent's field and defeating them before they could do anything in that match; this combination of cards created an undesirable playing environment, prompting the ban.

The ban was lifted on August 18th, 2017, due to Forest of Giant Plants being banned from the Expanded format on the same date.

Origin

Whirlwind is a move in the Pokémon games that Shiftry can learn. This card's Pokédex entry comes from Pokémon Black and White.
