As part of The Pokémon Company's continued expansion of the Pokémon Trading Card Game in Asia, another set of SM-P Promotional cards began to be distributed in Taiwan and Hong Kong in October 2019. These cards feature the same "PROMO" symbol used on the corresponding Japanese, Thai, and Indonesian collections but feature different cards. The first cards were available at a launch event held shortly after the release of the first set, All Stars Collection. The majority of subsequent cards were given away at Pokémon TCG Gym meetings and Pokémon Day events, which operate much like Pokémon Leagues held outside Asia. Pokémon Day events are typically more casual than Pokémon TCG Gym meetings; both share numbered card blocks despite being different events. The second wave of cards available at these events, and all waves released thereafter, feature the Pokémon TCG Gym logo.
Pokémon TCG Gym events in Taiwan and Hong Kong were suspended in late April due to the COVID-19 pandemic. The "Work Together, Break Through!" campaign was set up as an expression of gratitude to players and stores in both countries. From May 1 to 31, 2020, people who purchased NT$500 worth of TCG products in Taiwan or HK$130 worth of TCG products in Hong Kong at designated stores were eligible to receive special packs containing one of thirteen promotional cards. The packs were not immediately redeemable, requiring stamped receipts to be retained for those wishing to receive them. They became available from May 14, 2020 though it was discovered that many cards suffered from quality issues, prompting distributors to issue an apology on June 3 and announce a replacement service. Damaged cards could be replaced at designated Pokémon Card Gym stores between June 19 and July 10, 2020.
