This card was included in the Chilling Reign expansion with artwork by Yuu Nishida, first released in the Japanese Silver Lance expansion. It was reprinted in the Japanese VMAX Climax subset alongside a Secret Full Art print with artwork by Hideki Ishikawa. The VMAX Climax Full Art Secret print was later included in the Silver Tempest expansion.

Crunch is a move in the Pokémon games that Rockruff can learn. This card's Pokédex entry comes from Pokémon Ultra Moon. Professor Kukui is featured in the Silver Tempest print's illustration. A Rockruff resides at his laboratory and he uses one in a number of tutorials in Pokémon Sun, Moon, Ultra Sun, and Ultra Moon.
