Refrigerate (Japanese: フリーズスキン Freeze Skin) is an Ability introduced in Generation VI. In Pokémon X and Y and Generation VIII, it is the signature Ability of Amaura and Aurorus.

Effect

In battle

Generation VI

Refrigerate causes all Normal-type moves used by the Pokémon to become Ice-type and receive a 30% power boost. It overrides Ion Deluge and Electrify.

Generation VII

Affected moves now receive a 20% power boost.

Generation VIII

If Max Strike is selected with Refrigerate, it'll turn into Max Hailstorm when used.

Outside of battle

Refrigerate has no effect outside of battle.
