Release information

This card was first released in the Expedition Base Set, originating from the Base Expansion Pack. It was later reprinted in the EX FireRed & LeafGreen expansion, originating from the Flight of Legends expansion and Venusaur/Charizard/Blastoise Random Constructed Starter Decks. The card's title was shortened to Prof. Oak's Research for the EX FireRed & LeafGreen print; however, it has been ruled that the card's name should be considered the same regardless of whether "Professor" is typed out or abbreviated. It was also included in the Master Kit, Gift Box Mew • Lucario, and Imprison! Gardevoir ex Constructed Standard Deck in Japan, and EX Dragon Frontiers expansion in English.

Trivia

• This card's effect matches that of Shauna and Youngster, later released in the XY and Scarlet & Violet expansions, respectively.
• This card's effect is similar to Professor Oak's New Theory, but draws 1 fewer card.
