Pikachu's Rescue Adventure

Set # Front Title Back Back text
Togepi's On A Roll   One sunny day Togepi spies some Ledyba flying through the summer sky and accidentally stumbles and rolls down the viridian hill. Pikachu and the gang wake up and quickly chase after the tumbling baby. Meanwhile, a lost Meowth is trudging through the dense forest when — BLAM! — Togepi shoots out of the brush and smacks Meowth in the head, spinning them both further down the hill.
Where Could It Lead?   Before long, Togepi and Meowth fall into a gaping hole in the shady bowels of the forest. Pikachu, Squirtle, Bulbasaur, Marill and Venonat arrive at the mouth of the hole and shout into its murky darkness to locate the lost baby. Suddenly, Psyduck comes charging out of the forest, bumping into our heroes and sending them tumbling into the dark!
A Pokémon Wonderland!   Down and down they foll, falling further into the unknown. Soon a bright light appears before our heroes' eyes and they emerge into a bright sunny sky. Their turbulent fall is cushioned as Pikachu and the gang are saved by a flying flock of Ledyba. The lovely ladybug-like Pokémon then take our bewildered heroes through a tour of a gorgeous subterranean wonderland!
Enter Elekid   Soon, Pikachu and the gang are dropped off and the Ledyba fly off into the hazy summer sky. As Pikachu and the gang prepare to look for their lost companion, the sound of rustling leaves is heard. They turn their heads towards the sound as a menacing electrical Pokémon steps through the underbrush and stands ready — lightning Thundershock power crackles in the air...
A New Friend   Squirtle gets ready to rumble, but Pikachu decides that violence isn't the answer and extends its hand towards the strange Pokémon. Sparks fly between the menacing Pokémon, named Elekid, and Pikachu as they smile and make friends. Pikachu relates that they are searching for their lost friend Togepi. Elekid tells our gang that it might know where Togepi is — and so, our heroes continue with their new guide.
Exeggcute Plus One   After an exhausting tree climb our heroes are shown various nests filled with Exeggcute. In one particular nest, Pikachu finds a sleeping Togepi! Pikachu, Squirtle and Bulbasaur try to liberate Togepi from the possessive egg Pokémon but are foiled each time by the Exeggcute. They decide that to get Togepi back, they must go out and find the one missing Exeggcute.
The Underground Symphony   Led by their new friend, our intrepid heroes make their way to an underground lake where a symphony of light and sound erupts around them! Three graceful Bellossom pop-up from the flower-strewn floor and begin dancing. Our heroes watch as a delightful show of music and merriment unfolds. When the show ends, our gang continues on their underground journey.
There's A Storm Brewing   As they emerge above ground, our heroes bounce their way up the giant tree again only to encounter the nasty Meowth stuck on a branch! After wacky encounters with a Gyarados and a Snorlax the gang gathers together on a high branch in the tree. Just then, the sunny sky begins to darken, sinister clouds appear and the wind start howling, sending all of the Pokémon running for shelter.
Electric Battle   Suddenly, a deadly storm erupts and the wind threatens to steal away the nests of Exeggcute! Our heroes hold on to the flailing nests for dear life until a new threat arises — lightning! Sizzling bolts of electricity spiral down from the dark skies threatening to devour the tree in their electrical fury. Pikachu and Elekid valiantly leap to the tallest branch and begin to fight off the oncoming lightning!
Could It Get Worse?   The two electric Pokémon succeed in halting the deadly blasts of electricity, but a single bolt of lightning courses through the sky and sets the tree on fire! Marill and Squirtle put out the flames with their water guns but the danger is far from over. The wind picks up dramatically, and the Pokémon scramble to prevent the terrible gale from carrying off the nests.
Success, Sunlight & Evolution?   With a healthy dose of teamwork our heroes successfully battle the fury of the storm. As the sun begins to smile down on the great tree, a Chansey makes its way towards our heroes. Out of its pouch it pulls the missing Exeggcute! Togepi rejoins its friends and the missing egg leaps towards its family. Everyone watches in awe, as the newly reunited Exeggcute evolve into Exeggutor!
Pikachu's Rescue Adventure   With the sun to their backs and a smile on their faces, Pikachu and gang walk off into the distance. Pikachu's Rescue Adventure will truly be a time to remember. Our heroes begin their journey back to the top of the Earth, and wave a final farewell to their new friend Elekid and the rest of the Pokémon from the underground Pokémon wonderland.

The Power of One

Set # Front Title Back Back text
Introductions   Lawrence III speaks the ancient prophecy: Disturb not the harmony of Fire, Ice or Lightning lest these Titans wreak destruction upon the world in which they clash. Though water's great guardian shall arise to quell the fighting, alone its song will fail — thus the earth shall turn to dust. Into thine hands, bring together all three — their treasures combined tame the beast of the sea...now it begins.
Lawrence III   In his air-ship, Lawrence III's computer tells him that the Titans of Fire, Ice and Lightning refer to specific Pokémon — Moltres, Articuno and Zapdos — that are found in the Orange Islands. Lawrence III sets a course for the Orange Islands, where he can capture all three Pokémon. He doesn't care about the prophecy — he only wants to capture the Titan of the Sea.
The Chess Game   Lawrence III's computer relates that it has located Moltres, Articuno and Zapdos on the three islands surrounding Shamouti Island. Moltres is the closest, so Lawrence III makes plans to capture the giant fire Pokémon first, followed by Zapdos and Articuno. Once the three are captured, Lawrence III will capture a Pokémon never before seen by human eyes — Lugia!
1 Down, 3 To Go   Planning his actions like a chess game, Lawrence III begins dropping ice bombs to flush Moltres out. Once the fire Pokémon has taken to the air, Lawrence III continues his attack, weakening Moltres with more ice bombs. Weakened, Moltres is no match for the energy rings that Lawrence III sends after it. Moltres, once a proud, majestic Pokémon, is captured and added to Lawrence III's collection.
A Day At Sea   Unaware of Lawrence III's activities, Ash, Misty and Tracey continue their sea journey from island to island in the Orange Archipelago, as Ash pursues his dream of becoming a Pokémon Master. Crystal clear skies and dazzling blue waters surround the ship as they travel along. While Pikachu enjoys the boat ride from the bow, our heroes decide to let all of their Pokémon get some sun and fresh air!
Pokémon At Play   Soon, all of our heroes' Pokémon are out frolicking and enjoying themselves, from Venonat and Scyther to Starmie, Lapras, Squirtle and even the silly Psyduck. In fact, our heroes are so busy relaxing and having fun they don't realize that Team Rocket has been following them all along in their submarine, still intent on capturing Pikachu!
Stormy Seas   Without warning, storm clouds roll in, turning the once-calm ocean into a wave-filled nightmare! As the ship tosses on the waves, Ash, Misty and Tracey call their Pokémon back into their Poké Balls for safekeeping. On the bow, Pikachu's cheeks crackle with electricity — something is very wrong with this storm.
Magikarp Mayhem   As our heroes find themselves being tossed by the stormy waters, they're accompanied by thousands of Magikarp — all headed toward Shamouti Island! The Magikarp aren't alone though — James, Jessie and Meowth, inside the Team Rocket submarine, are pulled toward the island as well! Thanks to the storm, our heroes, along with Team Rocket, find themselves shipwrecked but safe on Shamouti Island.
Back In Pallet...   Meanwhile, in Pallet Town, Ash's mother and Professor Oak realize that something strange is happening. As the weather changes from summer skies to snow in an instant, they see thousands of Pokémon, from Pidgeotto to Diglett, all headed towards the sea. Professor Oak relates that Pokémon are more in tune with nature than humans. When something is wrong, Pokémon know it — and that something, somewhere, is terribly amiss.
Natives   Back on Shamouti Island, our heroes disembark from their boat, only to find themselves surrounded by fearsome-looking natives wearing strange masks. Much to their relief, the natives turn out to be friendly — they're just normal folks wearing disguises for their annual island festival. Maren, the ship's Captain, knows one of the natives, Carol, who merrily welcomes the group to the island.
Prophecy Of The Future   Carol introduces her sister, Melody, who is the Festival Maiden. As Maren introduces Ash, Misty and Tracey, the crowd gasps in awe. Tobias, a village elder, reveals a prophecy that speaks of a Pokémon Master who would come to vanquish the great titans. Before he can react, Tobias tells Ash to calm down — teasing tourists is all part of the festival tradition.
The Lovely Melody   Hearing that Ash is a Pokémon Trainer, Melody gives him the traditional welcome kiss. As Ash blushes, Melody asks if Misty is his younger sister — to which Misty says no. Melody then assumes that Misty is Ash's girlfriend, which gets Misty even more upset! Melody tells Misty that she must borrow Ash for the festival, for the “chosen one deserves a real woman...not a little girl!” Misty is not happy.
The Performance   Ash, Misty and Tracey are treated to a banquet at the festival, the highlight of which is Melody's performance on an ornamental flute — a traditional instrument of her village. While Ash and Tracey are mesmerized by Melody's music, Misty continues to gripe about Melody's earlier comments.
The Banquet   After her performance, Melody continues the festival tradition by asking Ash to offer proof that he is indeed the chosen Pokémon Master by collecting treasures from the three islands surrounding Shamouti. Once done, Melody will play a flute song for the titans, and the festival will be complete. Amused by his intensity, Melody continues her joke — but to Ash, this is a grand adventure in the making!
A Challenge To Adventure   Unable to resist a good adventure, Ash pledges that he'll complete Melody's challenge. Maren tells Ash that she's In as well, and the two plan to leave right away. Before Ash can say another word, Pikachu grabs Ash's hat and rushes off toward the boat, somehow knowing that there is more to this adventure than just a silly tradition. Ash and Maren follow and head out into the sea.
Going After Ash   With a sudden storm raging offshore, Melody realizes that Ash could be in serious danger on the sea. Since she got Ash into this mess for tradition's sake, Melody tells Carol it's her responsibility to save him. Together with Misty and Tracey, Melody heads out into the storm to find Ash and Pikachu — not knowing that Team Rocket has stowed away on her boat!
Professor Oak's Findings   Back in Pallet Town, Professor Oak learns that the massive global climatic changes are being caused by an unknown, powerful phenomenon from under the ocean's surface. The anomaly appears to be located near the Orange Islands, where Ash and his friends are. Just then, Professor Ivy calls and reports that all the Pokémon on the Orange Islands are behaving strangely.
The Tumultuous Waters   While the skies clear, the waves continue to toss Maren's boat, threatening to smash it to pieces. Just as Maren tells Ash that the rudder is broken, a giant wave hurls the boat onshore...but where are they? Before anyone can get his or her bearings, Pikachu runs up a mountain, and Ash follows, telling Maren to stay with the boat.
Melody's Fancy Flying   The stormy seas are almost too much for Melody's powerboat, and the boat spends as much time out of the water as it does in it. On one airborne trip, Team Rocket is thrown from the boat, only to land safely on the island. Shortly thereafter, the entire boat is tossed from the sea as if a toy, and lands on the island near Maren's boat.
The First Temple   Pikachu guides Ash to the stone temple, where the first treasure lies. As Ash wonders whether or not the glowing red ball he sees is the treasure, Pikachu signals for him to take it, which he does. Just as the two turn to leave, Team Rocket appears, intent on capturing Pikachu once and for all! Just as they're about to make their move, Melody crashes the party — in her boat!
Enter Zapdos   As our heroes and Team Rocket bicker, Zapdos appears, filling the air with lightning bolts! Rocks crystallize as the bolts hit them, making everyone run for cover. As Zapdos lands on top of the temple, Pikachu charges up, as if preparing to fight. Against Ash's pleas, Pikachu tries to shock Zapdos, but gets knocked backward by lightning instead.
Pikachu Versus A Titan   While the others huddle in fear, Meowth explains that instead of fighting, Pikachu is talking to Zapdos through electricity. Zapdos tells Pikachu that this used to be Moltres' island, but since the Titan of Fire is now gone, Zapdos has taken the island as its own. As they talk, Zapdos ceases his attacks — little Pikachu has calmed the Titan of Lightning's anger!
2 Down, 1 To Go   As Pikachu and Zapdos continue to talk, Zapdos' electricity is suddenly redirected skyward, into Lawrence III's air-ship. As Team Rocket and our heroes watch, Lawrence III sends out energy rings that capture Zapdos. Attracted by Pikachu and Meowth, the rings also capture Team Rocket, Ash, Misty, Tracey, Melody, and the two Pokémon! All are taken aboard the air-ship.
Inside The Air-Ship   In the hold of his ship, Lawrence III greets our heroes and tells them of his plans to “collect” the three legendary birds. Looking over Lawrence III's collection of Pokémon articles and artifacts, Melody slowly realizes that Lawrence III's plans to collect the most powerful Pokémon in the world will make the ancient prophecy come true, and bring about the end of all life!
Natural Disasters   Professor Oak explains to the world that an imbalance between the forces of Moltres, Articuno and Zapdos might possibly be responsible for generating the deap-sea current or “beast of the sea” that could ultimately flood the entire planet. Pokémon from around the world, sensing that something is wrong with the current, have been traveling to Shamouti Island, anxious to help put things right — if they can!
Articuno Attacks   Realizing the danger Lawrence III's air-ship presents, the awakened Articuno attacks the ship with full force, blasting it with ice beams. Lawrence III answers in kind with firebombs, trying to weaken the powerful Pokémon enough so he can capture it and add it to his collection!
Releasing The Titans   Inside the hold, Ash decides that they must set Moltres and Zapdos free. Our heroes, together with Team Rocket, release their Pokémon in an attempt to free the captives. As the combined might of Pokémon free Moltres and Zapdos, the two Pokémon engage in battle, but quickly turn their anger against the air-ship.
The Fall Of The Air-Ship   Under the combined might of Moltres and Zapdos, Lawrence III's air-ship falls from the heavens and crash-lands on the Lightning Island temple. As it lands, building-sized pieces of the ship break off and tumble down the mountainside! Although it will never take to the skies again, something is still wrong — Moltres, Zapdos and Articuno continue to fight!
Run For It!   As the air-ship crumbles, Ash and company try to escape, but quickly slip on its slick metallic surface and slide to a rough landing in the snow. In the wreckage, Ash finds a second glowing orb — the second treasure of the prophecy! As Zapdos, Moltres and Articuno continue their devastation, Ash and the others escape in their boat.
The Watersprout   Pushed by waves of water from Articuno's and Moltres' battles, the boat falls over a cliff to almost certain doom. Just as it is about to crash, the boat is caught by a gigantic waterspout that carries our heroes away from the battle. As they travel, Melody hears music — the traditional song of her island. Finally, the waterspout drops them at the temple on Shamouti Island where Slowking is waiting.
Two Treasures   Slowking tells Ash to place the two globes in their rightful places in the temple, so Ash, guided by Pikachu, puts the globes of Fire Island and Lightning Island where they belong. Unfortunately, Ash is one globe short — he doesn't have the treasure of the Ice Island. Therefore, Moltres, Zapdos and Articuno will continue to battle, just as the prophecy says.
Lugia Revealed   As the three mighty Pokémon battle in the skies, Lugia, the Titan of the Sea, rises from the ocean depths in a waterspout, fulfilling the prophecy that it would return to try and save the Earth. Lugia's appearance attracts the attention of Lawrence III, who still seeks to add this rarest of Pokémon to his collection.
Battle In The Skies   Sensing that it has come to try and put things right, Moltres, Zapdos and Articuno join forces to stop Lugia! Under the onslaught, Lugia falls, and our heroes fear the worst — until Melody's flute song revives the fallen Pokémon. In the meantime, Pokémon from around the world have gathered where the deep-sea current should be flowing, knowing the fate of the world depends on what comes next!
Ash Is Chosen!   Its wounds healed, Lugia comes to the temple and tells Ash that he alone can prevent the prophecy from coming true — and that he must save the world! Ash must acquire the treasure of Ice Island, for once all three treasures are together and are harmonized with Melody's flute, the three Pokémon will end their battle, sparing the world from destruction.
A Decision Is Made   Still a little scared about protecting all of humanity and saving the world, Ash's confidence is strengthened when Tracey, Misty, Pikachu and all of his Pokémon gather in a show of support. With the support of his friends and his trusty Pokémon, Ash knows he can succeed!
Off To Save The World   To get to Ice Island, Ash is faced with a perilous journey across the frozen sea. While it looks frightening, Ash's ingenuity comes through again, and he creates a sled that a flying Charizard can pull across the ice! Together with Pikachu, Squirtle and Bulbasaur, Ash races towards Ice Island!
Was This Trip Really Necessary?   Ash's good fortune is cut short when the three battling Pokémon take notice and decide to stop him. Moltres melts the sea ahead of Ash, and Articuno quickly refreezes it, forming an impenetrable barrier around Ice Island! How will Ash ever get the treasure now?
Team Rocket To The Rescue   Just as Ash is about to give up hope, Team Rocket appears and offers him a ride to Ice Island in their hoverboat. If the world ends, they tell him, there will be nothing left to steal, so they want him to succeed as well! Together with their unlikely allies, Ash and Pikachu continue on toward the island and the treasure!
The Ice Temple   After a harrowing trip, Team Rocket and Ash finally make it to Ice Island and the Ice Temple — only to go on another scary ride as they plummet downward through an icy tunnel to the treasure room!
Three Treasures   Inside the treasure room, Ash works hard and finally pulls the ice treasure free. Realizing that the world depends on Ash returning the treasure to Shamouti Island, Jessie and James resist their urge to steal it, and tell Ash to hurry back to the boat so they can all escape!
A Narrow Escape   As Ash and Team Rocket try to leave the treasure room, Articuno lands, leaving itself open to attacks from Moltres and Zapdos. Weakened, Articuno crashes down near our heroes. Narrowly avoiding the devastation, Pikachu finds an escape route for the heroes and they make a run for it!
Flight Across The Ice   As they run down the mountainside, Lugia comes to Ash's and Team Rocket's rescue, offering them a ride across the field of ice back to Shamouti Island. Everyone jumps on board the giant Pokémon — Ash and Pikachu at its neck, and Team Rocket holding onto its leg. Lugia takes off on a frightening flight towards Shamouti Island!
Farewell Team Rocket...   As Lugia flies, it barely avoids attacks from Articuno, Moltres and Zapdos. Realizing that their added weight is pulling Lugia down, Team Rocket lets go of Lugia so that Ash can get safely back to Shamouti Island and save the world. Thinking that this is the end, Jessie, James and Meowth fall toward the frozen sea, and luckily splash down in water through a hole in the ice!
Hello Pokémon!   As Team Rocket surfaces, a spectacular sight greets them — all the Pokémon from around the world have gathered on the ice to try and save the planet! In the skies above, Lugia tells Ash that since humans and Pokémon share the planet, it isn't right for one to try and destroy the world of their neighbors. All beings on the planet must live together in peace.
The Capture Of Lugia   Still selfishly wanting Lugia for his collection, Lawrence III tries to capture the majestic Pokémon in energy rings. As Lugia tries to fight off the rings, its blasts strike Zapdos, Articuno and Moltres, knocking them to the ground. Finally, Lugia is able to fight off Lawrence III and the rings, but the battle has weakened it tremendously, causing it to fall into the sea — with Ash hanging on for dear life!
Down Into The Depths   Ash is able to break away from the rapidly sinking Lugia, but can only manage to float at the surface, with Pikachu next to him — he's exhausted! As Lugia sinks toward the bottom of the sea, its only thought is that it has failed. Lugia's final thought is echoed above the surface — in the absence of Lugia, the climate has once again gone wild!
Misty To Ash's Aid   Seeing Ash in danger, Misty rushes to his aid! Fighting towering waves, she bravely swims to where Ash and Pikachu are floating, allowing Tracey to pull them all to shore with a rope. Once on shore, Ash refuses aid, and staggers to the temple with the third treasure as his friends look on, amazed at his inner strength and perseverance.
Three Treasures Complete   As Ash places the third and final treasure in its place, the three orbs respond with an outburst of energy. As they continue to glow, the green, magical energy of life cascades from the combined treasures, activating the temple's ancient mechanism! Ash's part of the prophecy is complete!
The Flute   As Ash and the others look on, Melody comes forward to fulfill her part of the prophecy — her flute song will tame the anger of the Titans, and allow the world to return to normal. All assembled listen as Melody's song echoes across the sea.
Prophecy Fulfilled   As Melody plays her flute, the energy of life spreads across the island and the sea, slowly restoring all that it touches to its original state. Flowers blossom near the temple — in ground that was covered by snow only moments ago!
The Titans Awaken   Zapdos, Articuno and Moltres awaken as Melody's melody reaches them; their desire to fight replaced with a sense of peace. As the life energy continues to spread, the three majestic Pokémon take flight, all gliding gently above the islands as the wind calms and the climate returns to normal.
Lugia Rises!   Once again healed by Melody's mystical flute, Lugia rises triumphantly from the depths and soars peacefully to the sky with its siblings, Articuno, Moltres and Zapdos. As it circles the islands, Lugia lands gently near the temple to offer Ash a token of its thanks — a chance to once again ride the skies!
A Fanciful Flight   With his best friend Pikachu on his shoulder, Ash climbs on Lugia's neck for a wonderful ride through the heavens above the islands. As he flies with Lugia, all the assembled Pokémon wave in gratitude. Truly, Ash is a special Pokémon Trainer!
The Beast Of The Sea   The balance between Ice, Fire, Lightning and Water once again restored, the deep sea current is purged from the ocean's floor. Urged on by Melody's song and the fulfillment of the prophecy, the current is restored to its original peaceful state!
Peace Is Restored   Back on Shamouti Island, the peaceful islanders listen happily as the news reports: “And as you can see from these live pictures, the severe weather that's caused havoc around the globe has finally ended. Oceanographers are reporting that there is no sign of the undersea current which...” The voice fades as they all step outside to look upon the clear blue skies.
Farewell Lugia   Its mission complete, Lugia tells the assembled friends that “The beast of the sea has been tamed. The fate of the world could not have been in better hands.” Ash and Pikachu bid an emotional farewell to the mighty Pokémon that they came to know as a friend.
A Mother's Concern   As Ash and Pikachu look out over the sea, Ash's mother reaches the temple and gently scolds Ash for being reckless, even though he saved the world. She tells him that she worries and misses him every day. He's a Pokémon trainer, and that's the way it is, but the next time, could he save the world closer to home?
It's Not Over Yet...   After Ash and the others are safely home, Lawrence III explores the wreckage of the once-mighty air-ship. Musing to himself, he picks up his cherished Mew card and he realizes his grievous error... “How it all began, and how I'll begin again.”
We're Blasting Off Again   Later, Team Rocket slowly makes its way up to the temple where Slowking resides. Realizing that they were hereos and played a role in saving the world, James, Jessie and Meowth conclude that the bad guys are now the...good guys? Could our favorite nasty villains have turned over a new leaf? Don't count on it!
