Plot

After the deactivation of Hyperrogue Ange Floette and the rebuilding of Lumiose City, Team MZ encounters Ansha, who requests them to make a donut for her friend Hoopa. After creating the donut, she leads the group to a distortion at Coulant Waterway. With the help of Hoopa's Hyperspace Hole, Ansha enters the portal. Concerned for her, the player and Team MZ follow her into Hyperspace Lumiose for the first time. Upon finding Ansha and dealing with stronger Mankey, they return to Lumiose City. Unbeknownst to the group, a massive black distortion opens up over the remains of Prism Tower.
Later, Corbeau from the Rust Syndicate calls on Team MZ to meet him at the building. He reveals he is working with Vinnie and Quasartico Inc. to investigate abnormal readings detected by the company's equipment. After sharing the information, Corbeau tasks the player with survey work to gather data on Hyperspace Lumiose and address the massive distortion.
Upon completing the first round of survey work, the group learns that Hyperspace Lumiose poses a risk of eventually affecting reality, as previously foreign Pokémon not from Kalos begin to appear in Lumiose City. Additionally, these Pokémon are at risk of Rogue Mega Evolution due to the Mega Power present in the dimension. Furthermore, no more than three people can enter at a time. Thus, Corbeau calls for Korrina to join the group in the investigation. After defeating her, she and Ansha join Team MZ. The player, Urbain/Taunie, and Korrina travel to five different Hyperspace Rogue Mega Arenas to deal with and capture the Rogue Mega Pokémon. During this time, the group discovers that Ansha is the daughter of Diantha, and she is searching for a Rayquaza as a gift for her. They also obtain different types of butter that allow them to travel through much stronger portals. As time passes, more power builds up within the massive distortion, causing the real Lumiose City to distort and merge with Hyperspace Lumiose, resulting in events like the inside of the Rust Syndicate building briefly being trapped in the dimension.
Both the Rust Syndicate and Quasartico Inc. eventually discover that Hyperspace Lumiose is being sustained by a single Pokémon, although its identity remains unknown. Corbeau instructs Team MZ to feed Hoopa a donut infused with Mega Evolution energy, a plan that becomes known as "Operation Mega Donut." Following specific instructions, Ansha makes the Bad Dreams Cruller. Together with the various Trainers the player battles as part of the Z-A Royale, the groups, along with Team MZ, use their Mega Rings to channel their energy into Hoopa, allowing it to transport the player, Urbain/Taunie, and Korrina to Hyperspace Newmoon Nightmare. It is revealed that the source of Hyperspace Lumiose was Darkrai, which had been exposed to Ange's Mega Power after living in the Prism Tower and resting there six months prior to the events of Pokémon Legends: Z-A. Together, the trio defeats and captures the Rogue Mega Pokémon.
With Darkrai's capture, Hyperspace Lumiose stops expanding but continues to exist. Afterwards, Team MZ decides to focus on making Ansha's dream of catching Rayquaza a reality. Through further research, the player, Urbain/Taunie, and Korrina must battle against Rogue Primal Groudon and Rogue Primal Kyogre to achieve their goal. Upon obtaining the Red and Blue Orbs, these items are given to both the Rust Syndicate and Quasartico Inc. for research. After analyzing the items, Mable reveals that Ansha needs to actualize its realm, Hyperspace Sky Pillar, for Rayquaza to appear. It is revealed that Ansha's desire stemmed from reading a storybook about the Super-ancient Pokémon, which led to the formation of Hyperspace Sky Pillar. After creating the Delta Old-Fashioned Donut, the player and their allies are able to enter Hyperspace Sky Pillar. There, the trio battles and captures the Rogue Mega Rayquaza, fulfilling Ansha's dream. However, realizing she may not have the chance to give such a gift again, Ansha requests that the player watch over Rayquaza for her until she is old enough to become a Pokémon Trainer.

- Released October 16th, 2025
The first wave of content came alongside the worldwide release of Pokémon Legends: Z-A in Patch 1.0.1. It introduced the Holo-X and Holo-Y apparel as an outfit option. Wave 2 – Additional story content

- Released on December 10, 2025
The second wave of DLC, introduced in Patch 2.0.0, unlocks additional story content. Mysterious distortions have appeared without warning in Lumiose City, which appear to connect to Hyperspace Lumiose. The story involves Team MZ, as well as, in its only core series appearance outside of a limited-time event, the Mythical Pokémon Hoopa. Additionally, 19 new Mega Evolutions (22 if form variations are counted) will make their video game debut in Wave 2. Plus, 130 previously unavailable Pokémon were added to the game as well through DLC update. This story can be played after completing the main story of Pokémon Legends: Z-A.

In addition, the new story content introduces Ansha, a young girl seeking out a Rayquaza as a gift for her mother, accompanied by her friend, a Hoopa. Mega Dimension also features the return of Korrina, who joins Team MZ to lend her strength and expertise as a Mega Evolution Successor to their new mission.
Pokémon

New Mega Evolutions
- Main article: Mega Evolution
Eighteen Pokémon received 19 new Mega Evolutions (22 if form variations are counted), and 19 Mega Stones were added into the DLC. Z Mega Evolution was introduced, with a total of three Pokémon able to use it: Absol, Garchomp, and Lucario.

This DLC marks the first time Meltan and Melmetal are obtainable in a Core series game outside of spin-off games and online events.
Hoopa, Volcanion, the Hisuian forms of Sliggoo, Goodra, and Avalugg, and the Garden Pattern of Vivillon, all of which were previously present in the base game but impossible to obtain, were also made obtainable in the DLC.
Moves
Items
There are 53 additional TMs, raising the total number to 160. The additional TMs can be obtained either through Side missions or by trading Mega Shards at the Mega Shard Exchange in Vert Sector 7.
Donuts
- Main article: Donuts
In the Mega Dimension DLC, there is a feature where Ansha can make special donuts to feed Hoopa, which awaken its powers and opens up different paths to Hyperspace Lumiose.
Hyperspace
- Main article: Hyperspace Lumiose
Hyperspace Lumiose is a new location introduced in Pokémon Legends: Z-A. It has a Pokédex of its own. Pokémon can be over Lv. 100 while in hyperspace, but this is not carried over after returning from hyperspace. There are several different pocket dimensions; Hyperspace wild zone, Hyperspace battle zone, Hyperspace Rogue Mega Arena, and Unknown.
Side missions
- Main article: Mission (Legends: Z-A)
81 side missions are added into game, bringing the total of side missions to 200. A third EX Mission is also added and unlocked after clearing hyperspace mission 12 and the previous two EX Missions.
Special scans
After the player captures Rayquaza and visits the Rust Syndicate Office, the special scan feature will be unlocked. This feature requires 25,000 hyperspace points to access. Once achieved, the player will receive a call from Corbeau to visit the office. By speaking to Philippe, he will activate the special scan, which causes a random Hyperspace portal to open. The portal will always be a 5 Star hyperspace portal.
The hyperspace portal is random and can lead to either hyperspace wild zones, hyperspace battle zones, or unknown zones. The hyperspace wild zones are the only places where players can find Porygon2, Porygon-Z, Rotom, the Frigibax line, and Gimmighoul. Regional variants of Pokémon previously unobtainable or obtainable only via side missions, like Hisuian Goodra or Galarian Slowpoke, can also be encountered in hyperspace wild zones. The available Fossil Pokémon (Tyrunt, Tyrantrum, Amaura, Aurorus, and Aerodactyl), as well as most of the available first partner Pokémon lines (the ones from Kanto, Hoenn, and Kalos), can be encountered in the hyperspace wild zones unlocked by special scans. The Eeveelution are encounterable through the Special scan feature. The unknown zones are where players can encounter Legendary Pokémon and Mythical Pokémon. The following can be found in each unknown zone, one at a time: Latias, Latios, Cobalion, Terrakion, Virizion, Keldeo, and Meloetta.
Z-A Royale

Upon completing the Mega Dimension story, the Trainers the player can face after earning enough points have their Pokémon Team's level increased. Their current levels range from Level 80 to 100, depending on which NPC the player faces in a match.
Multi Battle
The Multi Battle feature makes an appearance in the DLC. These battles will only occur in Hyperspace and Side Missions. During these battles, the NPC that allies with the player will use four Pokémon for their team while the two opponents will use three Pokémon each, ending with them using a Mega Evolved Pokémon. The ally NPC will keep bringing out their own Pokémon each time it faints in a repeat until the battle is over. Multi Battles cannot be fought again outside of Hyperspace and Side Missions.
Mega Rogue Rush
- Main article: Mega Rogue Rush
Upon capturing Zeraora and defeating every Rogue Mega Evolution, a boss rush mode called Mega Rogue Rush is unlocked at Quasartico Inc. This rematch mode lets the player face off against all the Rogue Megas, Rogue Primal Reversions, and Zygarde back to back, with limited 3 times to heal between matches.
