Peculiar Pokémon-Loving Pal (Japanese: ポケモン想いの変なダチ Peculiar Pokémon-Loving Pal) was a story event in Pokémon Masters EX. It was focused on the sync pair Arven & Mabosstiff.

The "Arven Poké Fair Scout" gave players an increased chance of recruiting Arven & Mabosstiff for the duration of the event.

During this event, players could earn event points by completing battles. Players received rewards based on the number of points accumulated, including 5★ Scout Tickets, a Support Move Candy Coin, a 5★ Power-Up, and medals. All battles could be challenged an unlimited number of times except Daily Extreme Battle 1, which could only be challenged once per day.

The player could battle using Arven & Mabosstiff to obtain +0.6× bonus points; N & Zekrom, Nemona & Pawmot, or Penny & Sylveon to obtain +0.4× bonus points; and any unlisted sync pairs with the Dark or Paldea theme skills to obtain +0.2× bonus points.

This event featured the Battle Challenge, where players were challenged to defeat a team of strong opponents. Players could complete event missions by clearing these areas with one or fewer sync pairs fainting and sync pairs with specific theme skills on the team.

Plot

As Arven picnics with Mabosstiff in the woods, N comes across the two. Observing the close connection they share, N decides to approach them in order to hear more of Mabosstiff's voice. This startles Arven, prompting N to introduce himself and explain his ability to hear the voices of Pokémon. Unnerved, Arven abruptly leaves with Mabosstiff. N watches them go, and decides he would like to learn more about their friendship.

In the plaza, Arven speaks with Nemona and Penny about his encounter with N. Realizing that N likely has good intentions, Nemona and Penny encourage Arven to befriend him. While Arven begins to consider their words, Mabosstiff begs him for food. Arven gives him the sandwich he had prepared for him before, and the others begin to discuss his cooking. Overhearing their conversation from nearby, N walks over to them and wonders if Arven's cooking is the secret to his close bond with Mabosstiff. He asks Arven how to make that particular sandwich, calling him by name. Shocked, Arven asks N how he knows who he is, and N clarifies that Mabosstiff told him. N goes on to tell Arven about his dream of creating a world "full of love between people and Pokémon." He invites Arven to help him with this, and that startles him even more. Arven takes off running with Mabosstiff, causing N to chase after him.

Arven reaches the forest, and believing he has escaped N, stops to rest. N, however, shows up directly behind them, prompting Arven to sprint away once more. Assuming they are playing a game of tag, N pursues them. Arven and Mabosstiff flee to the mountains, but N finds them, causing Arven to run again.

N chases them into a cave, and exhausted from running, Arven gives up. Seeing that Mabosstiff appears to like N, Arven lets him elaborate about his idea of a perfect world. N explains that he would like for the love and trust between Pokémon and Trainers to eradicate the need for Poké Balls, and that Arven and Mabosstiff are already an example of how that can be accomplished. Arven then tells N about his past, explaining how Mabosstiff was there for him when his parents were not. N is able to relate to Arven in this sense, and the two laugh about their similarities. Mabosstiff begs for food again, and N points out that he would like to eat a sandwich with sweet ingredients. Arven is surprised that N would know something so specific, prompting him to once again explain that he can hear the voices of Pokémon. N asks Arven if he could listen to Mabosstiff's voice again, and Arven gladly gives his permission.

Days later, the two meet with Zoroark and Mabosstiff indoors for Arven to give N a cooking lesson. N initially struggles, but after some time, he manages to make something for Zoroark. Zoroark is pleased with his meal, and N enthuses about the factors and formulas of cooking. Arven volunteers to give N more cooking lessons anytime he wants, proclaiming that he is his "bud," to N's confusion. Arven then clarifies that this is another way of saying the two are friends, delighting N.

When Hilbert meets with N sometime later, he is surprised to learn that N has taken up cooking. As they speak, Arven calls out to N from nearby. N tries to introduce him to Hilbert as a friend, but Arven explains that the two are "buds" instead. Mabosstiff appears to agree, causing everyone to laugh.
