Shogakukan mini-volume | Episode 12 in Vol. 2 |
Series | Pokémon Adventures |
Location | Levincia West Paldean Sea |
(Japanese: 配信!ドンナモンジャTV!! Live Stream! Donnamonja TV!!) is the 12th chapter of the Scarlet & Violet arc of the Pokémon Adventures manga.
It is subtitled (Japanese: VSハラバリー VS Harabarie).
Plot
Continuing from the previous chapter, a disguised Scarlet makes an appearance on Iono's livestream as Nemona stands beside her with a look of concern. Nemona tries to get Scarlet's attention, prompting the latter to urge her to match her feigned enthusiasm. Determined to succeed as Scarlet's assistant, Nemona cheerfully introduces her as "Letty," her best friend and rival. Nemona then quietly suggests using the livesteam to ask viewers about the treasures of ruin, but Scarlet dismisses it, believing it will only encourage others to find the treasure before her. Nemona doubts her own abilities as a treasure hunting assistant, but Scarlet claims it is only natural for someone with a normal upbringing to act without caution.
Iono begins to explain the Gym Test, saying that in order to pass, Scarlet and Nemona must locate three teachers around Levincia. She mentions that, while she usually introduces the challengers to the person they must find, there is no point to it this time since everyone taking part in the Gym Test is from Uva Academy. This prompts Scarlet to suggest for Nemona to take the test first, leading her to mistakenly believe Scarlet is interested in seeing her battling skills.
Iono commences the Gym Test, tasking Nemona with finding a teacher in an area of the city that is being displayed on a large screen. She quickly spots Salvatore seated at a table. Scarlet studies him closely before Iono changes the image to show the Pokémon Center. After a brief moment of searching, Nemona successfully finds Jacq. Iono then shows a view of the battle court. Although Nemona initially struggles, she soon points out Raifort on a boat below the court. With that, Nemona passes her Gym Test, and Iono calls for Scarlet's to begin.
Meanwhile, in the West Paldean Sea, Arven and Violet are riding on Miraidon's back. Rotojī informs them that Nemona's Gym Test is starting, and they decide to dock somewhere in order to watch it. To their surprise, they find Scarlet's test being streamed, instead. Violet is instantly able to recognize her as Nemona's helmet-wearing opponent during Uva Academy's exhibition match, to Arven's confusion.
Iono soon announces that Scarlet passed her test, qualifying her for the Gym battle. Nemona pieces together that Scarlet had her go first because she did not know the teachers' faces, but she is unoffended about being used.
Later, Scarlet meets Iono on the battle court while feigning excitement about their upcoming match. As Nemona watches Scarlet adapt to Iono's manner of speaking, she realizes Scarlet must have been forced to learn this skill in order to survive. As she wonders what circumstances Scarlet grew up in, the battle begins, drawing in her attention. Iono sends out Wattrel, and Scarlet unleashes her Sprigatito. Nemona grows concerned about Scarlet's type disadvantage, realizing that she does not have any Pokémon that can easily defeat an opponent with both Electric and Flying typing.
Sprigatito uses Leafage on Wattrel, and as the latter is distracted by the leaves flying around it, there is a sudden explosion that renders it unable to continue battling. The livestream viewers ask a flurry of questions, leading Iono to request an explanation from Nemona. She clarifies that Sprigatito distracted Wattrel with Leafage to secretly use Seed Bomb. Right as Iono commends Scarlet for using such an enthralling attack method, a light begins to shine from Sprigatito, and it evolves into Floragato.
Iono's next Pokémon is Bellibolt, leading Scarlet to swap Floragato for Armarouge. Nemona is about to worry about the possibility of Bellibolt using Water Gun, but then suspects that Scarlet is well aware of this. When Bellibolt launches Water Gun at Armarouge, the attack is shown to have only collided with a substitute doll. From behind Bellibolt, Armarouge uses Mystical Fire, knocking it out.
Iono calls on her fans for their support as Scarlet prepares for her final Pokémon. Knowing that Iono will Terastallize it into an Electric type, Scarlet sends out her Pikachu, to whom she recently taught Dig. Iono, however, sees through her strategy and sends out her Mismagius, boasting about its Levitate Ability.
From a screen in another area of the city, Rika and Geeta watch the battle as it occurs.
